CMC shuts sole branch in Scotland

Spread betting firm CMC Markets is to close its Edinburgh office, its only branch in Scotland, but says it remains committed to doing business north of the border.

It opened its Scottish office on Princes Street in January last year but a spokesman says that as part of an ongoing global review of the business it decided it no longer needs that ‘physical presence’. The office closes at the end of this month but the firm will retain Michael McCudden, manager for Scotland, as a consultant. CMC is looking for a serviced office in Glasgow where he will be based.

A spokesman said it will continue to service its Scottish business from London and will still take on new clients. He added the company is in ‘rude health’.
