IG Index to start charging for Real-Time Charts

IG Index’s announement letter follows -:

As a user of our Real-time charts tool, we would like to let you know about some forthcoming changes to our standalone professional-level charting package.

Access to Real-time charts is currently free of charge, and will remain so for all active clients. However, a monthly fee will now be introduced for those who do not trade regularly with us.

How might the changes affect me?

The fee of £30 per month will be effective from 1 June 2009.

We will waive this fee providing you place just four trades during May 2009, and we will continue to do so as long as you meet this minimum of four trades per month. There is no stipulation on whether the transactions are to open or close a position; they simply need to be filled orders.

Controlling Real-time charts on your account

From June, if you have not met the minimum number of transactions for the preceding month, we will turn off your access to Real-time charts. If you wish, you can re-activate Real-time charts in your Account Preferences within PureDeal. No payments will be taken until you have agreed to the Terms and Conditions.

When you re-activate Real-time charts, the £30 fee will be debited from your account monthly. Of course, if you meet our minimum number of transactions, the fee will be rebated in full at the end of each month. You can also choose to disable Real-time charts at any time and no further payments will be collected.

Remember, if you are an active client you will be able to enjoy all the benefits of Real-time charts completely free of charge. And finally, you can continue to access our more basic charting tool, Quick charts, for free, whether or not you subscribe to Real-time charts or place any trades.

Thoughts: IG Index‘s Prorealtime charts are some of the best in the market but all good things come to an end and so go the free real-time charts from IG Index; however the 4 trades per month offer for free access sounds like a fair deal; you simply have to open and close two trades each month for continued free access.
