Although I hold accounts with most of the spread betting companies, the IG Index Android app was my first foray into trading with IG, and I like what I see..

Don’t invest what you can afford to lose!

There is an old saying that you should “only invest (or speculate) with money you can afford to lose”. But this is not good for high earners, because….if you think you can afford to lose a lot of money, you probably will. I know this from past experience, or rather from past inexperience.

Trading Trail #26: Upside / Downside

Dec 23, 2011 at 7:14 pm in Trading Diary by · Leave a Comment »

Trading Trail #25: My Portfolio and My Anti-Portfolio

at 7:15 pm in Trading Diary by · Leave a Comment »

You may remember that I have two main sources of potential purchases in my longer-term position trading spread bet portfolio: The Yahoo! Finance Loser (%) List and my Stop-Out List of previously-held positions.

More about the Google Finance Portfolio

Dec 16, 2011 at 6:36 pm in Tips and Strategies by · Leave a Comment »

You already know that I ditched my Google Docs spreadsheet implementation of my Stop-Out List in favour of one based on the Google Finance Portfolio Feature. The more I use the new implementation, the more I like it.

Trading Trail #24: No Worries!

at 6:35 pm in Trading Diary by · Leave a Comment »

The value of the Trading Trail position trading portfolio is now down to little more than £600 (from an initial cash balance of £1000) and so you might wonder: am I worried?

The Google Finance “Portfolio” Stop-Out List

Dec 15, 2011 at 3:59 pm in Tips and Strategies by · Leave a Comment »

My idea of a Stop-Out List that shows me my last selling price of each stock (so that I never buy back more expensively) has served me well.
