Plenty of anticipation of news next week for Bowleven shareholders

There was a huge number of shares traded in Cameroon focused oil and gas explorer, Bowleven (BLVN), on Friday. Nearly 15 million shares were traded, with a significant amount of that in the auction after the close of normal trading.

It was a bad week for the mining sector with heavyweights BHP Billiton dropping over 4% in the last 7 days to £18.68, Anglo American dropped 7.3% for the week and fell 5.7% on Friday to close at £14.57 and Rio Tinto fell 6.15% on the week to £30.57 after a 4% fall on Friday.

Its been quite a month for investors in Range Resources with the shares up 33% over 4 weeks after an 8.5% rise today following a series of announcements, though unlucky long term holders are still well down on their investment with the shares down over 60% in the last year.

Vodafone shares dropped 5.5% yesterday and a further 2% today to hit 202p, after delivering a profits warning for 2015 with their results for the year ending March 2014.

The disappointment was palpable amongst AstraZeneca’s shareholders this morning with their shares plummeting up to 15% at the open to around £41.50 after the drug company rejected the latest offer by Pfizer for the company.
